almatango scuola di tango argentino stile milonguero roma

Almatango teaches Argentine Tango in the milonguero style — the intimate, social dance of Buenos Aires ballrooms. Unlike spectacular stage tango, milonguero emphasizes emotional connection and musicality over flashy figures. The style is built on a closed embrace and small, precise movements called traspiè, designed for dancing in crowded milongas without disturbing other couples.

Every class begins with a warm-up phase of technical exercises focused on posture, balance, and the mechanics of walking together, dissociation, and improvisation. Steps and figures are differentiated by level throughout the curriculum. The school stresses that correct execution of any step requires precise positioning and body awareness — technique is the foundation.

Almatango operates at four locations across Rome: Dance Clinic Garbatella (Via Anton da Noli, 12, Ostiense), ASD Europa (Via della Marranella di Marino, 46, Morena), Dancefit (Via delle Case Rosse, 53, Settecamini), and Studio Trastevere (Viale di Trastevere, 220, int.3, Trastevere).

The school has published 'Il decalogo del milonguero' — ten principles of milonguero etiquette and spirit — that guide its teaching philosophy. These principles stress respect for the ronda (the line of dance), delicate and precise leading using the upper body, adaptation to each partner's ability, dancing for pleasure rather than display, and above all, creating joy and emotional exchange through movement.

You will begin with technical exercises for posture, balance and body mechanics. Steps and figures suited to your level follow. The teaching focuses on how to walk together, improvise naturally, and lead and follow with subtlety and care.
