Atelier Danses occupies a 380 m² space in Fabrègues with two dance halls, a sprung parquet floor, mirrors throughout, and a kitchen area with a bar. The studio is designed as a welcoming, relaxed venue with a reception area where you can settle in before or after class.
The studio specializes in West Coast Swing and Carolina Shag. West Coast Swing originated on the US west coast in the 1950s and evolved from Lindy Hop, belonging to the swing family of dances. It is characterized by fluid, elastic movements between partners—often compared to ice skating. What sets West Coast Swing apart is the emphasis on improvisation and creative freedom. While there are rules, both the leader and follower have substantial liberty to interpret the music and express themselves. At higher levels, the follower can even take control of the dance temporarily, inverting roles. This freedom to be creative and dance to any music style makes West Coast Swing distinctive.
Carolina Shag is also taught at the studio. The instructors are Sébastien Cadet and Blandine Iche, who teach both disciplines. The studio maintains an active schedule of classes and social events.
