About this studio
Bravo Dance Company is founded and directed by Alfonso Caldera, a W.S.F. World Salsa Champion and International Mayan Salsa Champion who has taught Latin dancing for over 20 years. Born in Nicaragua and trained with the World Famous Dance Team Rumba Brava, Alfonso has developed a unique style of dancing called the BRAVO Style—sharp, clean with control, and flavour. He consistently placed in the top three at major salsa competitions including the Miami World Salsa Federation competition, where he won the championship trophy.
The studio teaches alongside Jessica Caldera, a dancer and choreographer who has been dancing since age three. Jessica trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap and contemporary before discovering salsa. She represented Canada twice at the World Tap Championships in Riesa, Germany, and went on to win the World Salsa Championship in the professional division with Alfonso as her partner. Jessica has appeared in music videos and on television, trained as a dancer for Disney Cruise Lines, and continues to teach, choreograph, and perform internationally.
Classes are offered at 14655 Midway Rd in Addison and are structured around beginner and intermediate/advanced levels. Beginner Salsa runs for 6 or 12 weeks at $110 or $170 respectively. Advanced Salsa and Ladies & Men Salsa Styling are available on the same schedule. No partner or prior dance experience is required for beginner classes. The studio emphasises a community built on inclusivity and support, where each dancer is encouraged to shine and grow.
