About this studio
Cambridge Tango Labs is run by Sylwia and Radu, Argentine Tango dancers based in Cambridge who have been dancing socially for many years. Both are respected and appreciated dancers in Cambridge, London and beyond, with experience teaching a range of levels and a track record of helping to build tango communities. They approach tango as a passion to share, not a primary profession.
The studio offers two main regular events. Bi-weekly PracticaLongas happen on the first, third and fifth Sundays of the month from 2:00–5:00pm at NCI, 1 Holland St. The format runs 2–3pm as an Improver/Intermediate class (taught by Sylwia and Radu, Cambridge partners, or visiting instructors), followed by 3–5pm of open practilonga — social dancing in a relaxed, welcoming environment where dancers of all levels can practice together. Snacks, coffee and water are provided; other drinks are available at the bar. The music policy focuses on Golden Age Tango in traditional tanda structure.
The studio also co-hosts Milonga Allá Arriba with CamTango, held typically on first, third and sometimes fifth Fridays of each month from 8:30pm to midnight at St. Paul's Church, Hills Road Cambridge. Entry is £10 (£7 for students). Dates for 2025 are to be announced.
Private and small group classes are available on demand. These sessions, ranging from one-on-one instruction to groups of 4–6 well-matched students, are tailored to your needs and typically charged around £60 per hour (depending on whether one or both instructors teach, session length, and location). Your first visit
Show up on a Sunday afternoon to the PracticaLonga at Holland St: you'll find a friendly crowd, an Improver/Intermediate class at the start, then open social dancing and practice. Snacks and drinks are available. You can also attend the monthly Milonga Allá Arriba on a Friday evening at St. Paul's Church for a larger social dance.
