About this studio

Dance Center Chicago has been teaching ballroom, Latin, and social dance to Chicagoans since 2003. The studio sits on the second floor of 3868 N. Lincoln Avenue in the North Center neighbourhood, steps from the Western Brown Line stop, making it easy to reach from Lakeview, Lincoln Square, Roscoe Village, and Wrigleyville.

The studio offers group classes in six styles: Salsa, Bachata, Ballroom & Latin, West Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, and Zouk. Group classes run in 4-week monthly sessions starting the first week of each month, with levels ranging from complete beginner to advanced. No partner is required — most classes rotate partners throughout the session so you get to practise with different leads and follows. Salsa classes meet Monday and Thursday evenings. Bachata (sensual and modern styles) runs Wednesday evenings. West Coast Swing meets Thursday evenings. Argentine Tango is every Thursday evening. Ballroom covers waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha and more, and is offered for couples or solo dancers. Zouk is described as a fluid, expressive partner dance welcoming all levels. The studio also offers a Wedding Dance group prep class plus private packages.

Private lessons are tailored one-on-one instruction for any style or goal. Each lesson is 45 minutes. The studio's instructors include multiple champion-level dancers and World, US, Australian, and Russian Ballroom and Latin Finalists. The team brings decades of competitive and social dance experience. The studio also regularly hosts top ballroom coaches and judges to help students of all levels improve.

Beyond classes, Dance Center Chicago rents its studio space for independent dance instruction, theatre rehearsals, fitness classes, and photography. The studio maintains a calendar of socials and special events. Group class pricing is $80 per person for a single 4-week session, $120 for two concurrent sessions, or $135 for unlimited monthly access. Private lesson pricing starts at $100 per single 45-minute lesson, with packages of 5 lessons at $95 each or 10 lessons at $90 each; packages expire one year from purchase. Wedding packages offer 4, 6, or 8 lessons to fit different timelines and budgets.

What to expect

Your first visit

Group classes rotate partners so solo students are always welcome. Classes are small enough to get personalised attention.
