About this studio
E-Tango is a Brisbane tango school run by Greg and Rosemary Ensbey, who have been dancing tango for more than 20 years. They train regularly in Buenos Aires to keep their content and technique current. Rosemary brings additional expertise as a trained physiotherapist, understanding how to train the body for tango.
The school teaches all styles of social tango—traditional close embrace, salon and nuevo tango—for all student levels and ages from beginners through to advanced. The focus is on social dancing rather than performance dancing. Weekly themed classes are designed to give you the repertoire, technique and musicality you need to enjoy social dancing. All group classes include a half-hour practice session before or after.
E-Tango runs classes at two venues: St Barnabas Anglican Church Hall (Corner Pascal St & 28 St Barnabas Place, Red Hill) and 10 Love St, Spring Hill. The Beginners course runs Saturday afternoons 3–4:15 pm at Spring Hill (5 weeks, $95), with Foundation, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Advanced classes spread across Monday to Tuesday evenings at Red Hill. An Individual Technique 3-week course also runs on Saturdays at Spring Hill (90-minute classes covering technique, balance, drills and musicality).
Beyond classes, E-Tango hosts milongas (tango social dances) and practica sessions. Private lessons are available at the home studio, generally on Fridays and weekends, with both instructors working with you on specific steps, lead and follow technique, or fundamentals.
You don't need a partner to start—the school aims to balance the ratio of leaders to followers in all beginner groups.
