About this studio

Garage Dance Studio & Gallery is an adult-focused dance studio in New Britain, CT, founded and directed by Muna Swairjo. The studio caters to adults aged 19–90 and operates with a mission to support each student's creative journey in a fun, affordable and caring environment. The studio emphasises quality instruction in technique, rhythm and musicality, whether you're trying dance for the first time or pursuing it seriously.

The studio teaches Argentine tango at multiple levels, from beginners to advanced intermediate, as well as line dance, ballroom, West Coast swing, Latin, Bachata and more. Argentine tango is a core strength: the studio hosts regular tango practicas (practice sessions), milongas (social dance events) and milonguitas, plus beginner and intermediate/advanced tango classes. On Mondays, line dance classes with Wendy run for all levels—no partner needed. Wednesday evenings feature HARTS Master Intermediate Tango Classes (7:30–9 pm) with guided practica following (9–10 pm).

Beyond classes, Garage Dance Studio functions as a venue for regular social dance events. West Coast Swing socials run every third Saturday of the month, featuring a free class with a guest instructor at 7 pm, followed by dancing from 8–11 pm. The studio also hosts themed dance socials including "It's A Sunday Soiree" featuring WCS, Hustle, Ballroom and NC2 step on the second Saturday of each month (7–11 pm). Tango practicas run Wednesday evenings, and the community regularly gathers for milongas and special fundraiser events.

Muna Swairjo and Angelo Martucci serve as Argentine Tango DJs for events. The studio is closely affiliated with the Hartford Argentine Tango Society (HARTS) and manages events collaboratively with a group of volunteers. First-time visitors can expect a welcoming, energetic atmosphere designed to make learning accessible and enjoyable, with instructors who guide you through steps at your own pace.
