Generation Kiz

Generation Kiz teaches Kizomba-inspired dance styles in Den Haag, built on a philosophy that dance is a tool for expression and personal growth. The studio blends dance with psychology, creating what they describe as a safe space to learn and develop. Their core values centre on respect, authenticity, and equality—particularly between followers and leaders, regardless of gender.

The studio offers five main dance styles. Urban Kiz, which originates in Angolan Kizomba but borrows from Hip Hop, Afro, and Tango, emphasises freedom of expression and connection. Tarraxo, evolving from traditional Angolan couple dances, combines groundedness with upper-body expression and self-direction. Douceur—literally 'softness'—is described as meditation for two, focused on micro-movements and deep connection. Body Movements classes are solo-focused, building body awareness and control through isolations, balance, and spatial awareness. Kiz 'n Heels, an Urban Kiz-inspired course, teaches followers to use heels as a dancing tool, with the final class filmed so students can review their progress.

Classes are structured by level. Urban Kiz runs 8-week beginner courses starting every 8 weeks, with a free try-out in week one. Experienced dancers can book a level check and join at Beginners 2, Improvers, Practitioners, Intermediate, Inter/Advanced, or Advanced levels. Tarraxo offers intensive bootcamps (the next Tarraxo 1 is February 24th, a 4-hour session) and weekly Tarraxo 2 and 3 classes beginning in March. Douceur and Kiz 'n Heels are taught through open-level bootcamps and intensive courses. Body Movements classes run continuously with rotating subjects; you can join any time and take the next step as you progress.

The studio also runs business workshops combining dance with social psychology. These can be tailored for team building, communication, trust-building, or safety, and are guided by the studio's social and organisational psychologist alongside dance experts. Workshops are customisable to any group size and can be held anywhere, though travel costs apply outside Den Haag. Private classes offer 100% focus on your growth and needs.

Generation Kiz operates at RevamB (Daendelsstraat 57, Den Haag). The studio teaches adults only (16+). You do not need to bring a partner; the studio maintains balanced classes and regularly switches partners. All teachers are trained in both dance and pedagogy and understand the psychology of teaching and learning.

During your first Urban Kiz class, you'll join a balanced group of followers and leaders. The focus is on connection, technique, and musicality rather than step combinations; you'll switch partners regularly. For your try-out week, you can attend free before committing to the 8-week course.

All Generation Kiz teachers are trained in dance and pedagogy and understand the psychology behind teaching and learning. They train together and learn from one another. Every 8 weeks, a new Beginners 1 course starts with a free try-out in week one; no prior dance experience is required.
