About this studio
Gift of Dance Studios, run by Sasha Nagorny, teaches Latin social dancing to adults in Teaneck. The studio's philosophy is simple: dancing is about feeling comfortable and having fun, not memorizing routines. Sasha has trained extensively with world-renowned ballroom studios, travelled to South America where she fell in love with social dancing, and is RYT® 200 yoga certified. She has previously taught World Dance Appreciation & Practice at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
The studio offers group classes at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Beginners start with the 6-week Latin Bootcamp I/II, which covers Merengue, Bachata and Salsa fundamentals—learning basic steps and turns both solo and with a partner. For those ready to progress, the Latin Bootcamp XBL focuses on Salsa cross-body lead variations to prepare you for club-style dancing. Mixed-level classes include Open-Level Latin Club (focusing on footwork, body movement, styling and leading/following), Latin Movement & Styling (a solo-focused class for improving muscle memory, balance, speed and flexibility), and Ladies' STRUT & Goddess Rising (women-only, focusing on strutting and choreography). Advanced students can join the Rueda Salsa Performance Team. Specialty classes also include Afro-Cuban, Belly dancing and Tai-Chi.
Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Tuesday includes a new LEVEL-UP Transition Class at 7:30 PM and Salsa Club at 8:30 PM. Thursday classes run at 7:00 PM (Beginners PREP), 7:30 PM (Latin Bootcamp I & II) and 8:30 PM (Mixed Level 4+). All group classes are 55 minutes. The studio operates Monday–Friday, 1–10 PM, at ZINEniac Learning Studio, 223 Degraw Avenue, Teaneck, NJ.
Private lessons are one-on-one, 55-minute sessions ideal for fine-tuning body movement, improving leading and following, and developing partnership. Wedding dance choreography is a specialty; Sasha customizes dances to your taste and event, helps you choose music, works with the wedding party and prepares you for the spotlight. She offers both performance and instruction.
Once a month, the studio hosts a Practice Dance Party for all levels, including a beginner lesson. Recent events have featured live Latin bands. All classes include refreshments from Absalom (water, tea, CBD tea, soda, juice). No sneakers are required in bootcamp classes, and partners are not required.
