About this studio
The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) is the community extension of The Hartt School at the University of Hartford, offering dance programming for all ages from pre-K to adult. HCD is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Dance.
The division runs a Summer Dance Intensive (SDI), described as an intensive summer training program for serious students ages 8–18. The program features a rigorous daily schedule of training classes and rehearsals that culminates in a final showcase. An HCD Summer Dance Intensive Showcase is scheduled for August 15, 2026.
Beyond summer intensives, HCD provides a learning environment designed to engage, enrich, and transform aspiring artists. The division offers private lessons for children and adults throughout the year, including summer, with faculty support tailored to beginners and advanced students alike.
HCD emphasises accessibility and inclusion, offering scholarship opportunities to ensure students of all ages who demonstrate financial need can participate in their life-changing programs. The division also hosts performances and events throughout the year, including faculty recitals and student showcases.
