About this studio

Havana Club is a dual-purpose venue in Central Square, Cambridge, between Harvard and MIT. It runs both structured lessons and open social dance parties in salsa and bachata, operating six nights a week: Monday through Tuesday, Thursday through Saturday, and Sunday.

The weekly schedule combines teaching with dancing. Lessons run in the early evening (typically 8:15–9:45pm depending on the night), followed immediately by social dance parties that extend late into the night. Friday and Saturday nights run from 9:15pm to 2am with a lesson slot from 9:15–10:15pm beforehand. Sunday offers a longer lesson block from 7:15–8:45pm plus a practical session from 8:45–9:45pm. Monday and Thursday bachata lessons lead into social dancing that runs until midnight or later. Tuesday combines salsa and bachata lessons (8:15–9:45pm) with social dancing until 11:30pm.

The venue operates under a zero tolerance policy toward bad behavior, creating what it describes as a warm, welcoming community. Beginners are explicitly welcome; no partner is required, and you do not need to pre-register. The space accommodates large crowds—their New Year's Eve party draws around 300 people.

Havana Club also hosts private events: birthdays, office outings, and bachelorette parties can be arranged by contacting the venue. The venue is conveniently located one minute's walk from the Red Line's Central Square stop, with a large, inexpensive parking garage ($2.25/hr, maximum $9/night) right next door. The business has operated continuously since 2004.
