東京ラテンコネクション is a Latin dance school centred in Shinjuku, teaching salsa, bachata, reggaeton, merengue and cumbia to students of all levels. The studio is led by Lui, a 2-year consecutive Japan salsa champion with 9 years of teaching experience, who has instructed over 10,000 students. Lui's own path to dance was unexpected: originally shy and unconfident, he discovered Latin dance while travelling through Latin American countries as a student, drawn by the music and warmth of the people. That experience — finding confidence and connection through rhythm — shapes the studio's philosophy.
Yui, also a Japan salsa champion and producer of Las Pompis, co-teaches. She brings expressive, energetic instruction that emphasises feminine movement and gives students the courage to express themselves.
Classes run Thursday and Saturday. Thursday schedules begin at 19:30 with Salsa Beginner (all levels), 20:30 Salsa Intermediate (beginner–intermediate), and 21:30 Choreography Class (beginner–intermediate and up, rehearsal for stage and event performances). Saturdays alternate 14:00 Salsa Ladies Class (all levels, focusing on Latin technique and feminine expression), 15:00 Latin Basics (all levels, drilling salsa and bachata fundamentals), 16:00 Salsa Beginner (all levels), and 17:00 Bachata Beginner (all levels).
The studio operates from Studio RES in the D-SQUARE Shinjuku building, 7F, at 1-23-4 Hyakuninchō, Shinjuku-ku. The space is designed to feel comfortable and welcoming. The studio emphasises three core values: beginners are welcome regardless of natural ability or rhythm sense; students progress at their own pace through staged classes; and solo attendance is encouraged, with no fixed partner requirement (partners rotate through classes). The studio stresses respectful, pressure-free interaction and safe conduct. Free trial lessons are offered.
