About this studio
Københavns Ballet Akademi teaches classical ballet to children and adults using the Royal Academy of Dance system. As one of the few ballet schools in Denmark certified in the RAD framework, the school grounds its teaching in established technique and examination pathways. Classes are organised by age and experience level, and you can choose the right group for you or your child via their class schedule.
The school offers free trial classes regardless of your previous experience. Ballet is presented here as something that should be fun, challenging, and safe. If you want to progress formally, the school offers examination opportunities within the Royal Academy of Dance system.
The school runs events and lectures throughout the season. They organise a summer camp for adults aged 18+ (described as "slightly experienced") and intensive autumn camps for ages 12–18 featuring technique, solo work, contemporary and modern ballet, and conditioning. In 2023, students performed in a 40-year jubilee show at Dansekapellet; in 2026, students are invited to perform at Det Kongelige Teater's Gamle Scene during Store Balletskoledag, an annual event where selected ballet schools showcase their work to the public.
Private lessons are available on request. The school is located at Hørsholmsgade 20, opgang C in København N, inside the courtyard on the left, accessed via the second staircase down to the basement. Classes operate on a continuous enrolment basis.
