About this studio
Mambo Dinamico has been teaching salsa and Afro-Latin dance in the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill areas since February 2002. Under the direction of Norberto 'Betto' Herrera, the company promotes community and cultural awareness through instruction, performance, social gatherings and special events. The studio operates from 108 Factory Shops Rd in Morrisville, NC, in partnership with Carmen's Cuban Cafe, offering what they describe as an authentic Latin cultural experience.
The studio teaches salsa across five distinct levels. Group classes run on a structured schedule: Level 1 and Level 2 classes meet on Tuesday evenings (7–8pm and 8–9pm respectively), Level 3 and Level 4 meet on Monday (7–8pm and 8–9pm), and Level 5 meets on Wednesday at 7–8pm. Drop-in classes cost $12.99. Private lessons are also available; instructors can work with you one-on-one or you can bring a partner or share a lesson with someone else, with the option of one or two instructors.
Mambo Dinamico's musicality workshop has been consistently rated as one of the top-rated workshops by attendees for three years running. The workshop teaches participants about the musical components that make up salsa and Afro-Cuban rhythms and how different dance steps fit into the whole picture. The studio's syllabus is described as easy to follow, allowing new students to join classes right away.
Beyond group and private lessons, Mambo Dinamico offers choreography and coaching, entertainment for events, and educational presentations tailored to schools and businesses. The company has worked with all school districts in the area from elementary to high school level and with numerous companies in the Triangle Research Park. They have collaborated with The NC Theatre, The NC Symphony, The Carolina Theatre in Durham, the Nasher Museum of Arts, the American Dance Festival, and the International Civil Rights Center and Museum. Dancers have performed at venues ranging from New York to Florida, Arizona, and internationally in Japan.
The studio also produces regular social events, including Tuesday Salsa After Work Social and Agua y Fuego. In 2025, Mambo Dinamico premiered 'La Clave,' a seventeen-minute dance performance co-commissioned by the American Dance Festival and Cary, NC. The piece, choreographed by Betto Herrera and performed as part of the 'Made in NC' Show, traces the story of the African rhythm 'La Clave' and its evolution into mambo, taking audiences on a journey from Africa through Cuba to New York.

Mambo Dinamico was founded in February 2002 by Norberto 'Betto' Herrera and has been operating from 108 Factory Shops Rd in Morrisville since 2004, in partnership with Carmen's Cuban Cafe. As the first mambo and salsa dance company in the South, Mambo Dinamico set the standard for the region and has influenced the instruction methodology of studios across the United States and abroad.
