About this studio
Manchester Dance has been teaching in Denton for 31 years. They specialise in Ballroom and Latin dancing, offering classes and private lessons for adults at all levels, with new beginner classes running throughout the year.
Darren, the head instructor, is UKA and IDTA qualified and a WDO World Formation Championship Organiser. He's known for patience and a relaxed teaching approach — you don't change partners in class, which helps build confidence. His work has been recognised beyond the studio: he presented an outdoor workshop for Liverpool Capital of Culture, and has taught couples for weddings and professionals preparing for cruises.
Beyond regular classes, Manchester Dance runs two adults-only practice sessions on Saturday nights each month ("Social Nights") open to dancers from all schools. These sessions give you a chance to practise in a social setting and meet other dancers.
They teach at two locations: Denton and Clitheroe (Salesbury Memorial Hall). Class pages list details for each venue. They also offer private lessons and specialise in teaching first dances for weddings — a service they've provided to many couples.
Testimonials highlight the easygoing atmosphere and the value of combining classes, private lessons, and social nights. One couple who had spent three years at another school said they wish they'd started with Manchester Dance from the beginning.
