About this studio
MDN Latin Dance Studio is New Jersey's dedicated salsa school, specializing in New York style salsa on2 with over 20 years in the business. Founded by Marcus Nieves in 2009, the studio has built a strong reputation in the tri-state dance scene. The studio offers salsa, bachata, merengue, and specialty Cuban dance classes for adults and children, plus private lessons and event space rental.
Salsa classes run in 3-month cycles at beginner, advanced beginner 1, and advanced beginner 2 levels. Beginner salsa meets Tuesdays at 7pm, Wednesdays at 8:30pm, and Saturdays at 4:30pm; each class is 90 minutes and consistent attendance twice a week is strongly recommended. The next beginner cycle begins October 3, 2026, with further starts scheduled for January 2, April 3, July 3, and October 2, 2027. Drop-in classes are $25 each, or buy a 12-class punchcard for $180 (valid for 3 months).
Bachata is taught in 8-week intensives: one on Mondays at 8:30pm starting October 27, 2025, and another on Wednesdays at 7pm starting October 15, 2025. The 8-week course costs $150. Kids salsa classes are available on a monthly ($150) or 4-month full-course ($500) pass basis. Specialty classes in Afro-Cuban, rumba, and rueda are taught by Teresa Castañeda on Thursdays (two classes at 7pm and 8:30pm) during the July–September run; single classes are $25 or buy a 4-class package for $90.
The studio also offers private lessons and online training via MDN Online. The space is available for event rental, auditions, rehearsals, and private parties. There are no contracts or registration fees.

Your first visit
Classes are 90 minutes long, with beginner salsa meeting three times weekly. Consistent attendance twice a week is recommended. The studio accepts new students on a rolling basis throughout the year as new cycles begin; register online or call to start.

Who teaches here
Marcus Nieves, who started dancing in 1998 at local New Jersey clubs and performed with dance company Fuerza Latina, teaches mambo and salsa on2. Diana Osorio teaches mambo, salsa on2, and ladies styling. Teresa Castañeda leads specialty Cuban dance classes in Afro-Cuban, rumba, and rueda.

Marcus Nieves founded MDN Latin Dance Studio in 2009 after the studio relocated following six years of business at a previous location. Nieves started dancing in 1998 while clubbing at 'Foxes', a New Jersey hotspot, and went on to perform extensively with Fuerza Latina, gaining recognition across the tri-state area.
