About this studio
Metta Dance Collective teaches bachata in two locations: Albuquerque at 1705 San Pedro Dr NE, and Santa Fe at 851 W San Mateo Rd. Classes run Monday through Thursday, with beginner, Level 2, and Level 3 options. All weekly classes are followed by a mini-social practica so you can apply what you've learned.
The studio runs progressive classes designed around specific bachata styles and techniques. Each week rotates through a focus: traditional bachata (footwork and grooves), modern bachata with salsa influence (turns and spins), sensual bachata with zouk influence (body movement and close embrace), and musicality training across all levels. Level 3 requires instructor approval after at least one month of training, ensuring you're placed where you'll grow most.
Beyond weekly classes, Metta runs monthly Bachata Flow socials on the third Friday of each month—family-friendly events to dance in a social setting. The studio also hosts workshops with guest instructors, runs performing teams for dancers seeking local and national performance opportunities, and organises international travel experiences focused on bachata culture and international instruction.
First-time students dance free using the code FIRSTDAY. High school and college students get 50% discount on memberships. The studio also offers sliding-scale membership for those who need financial flexibility—applicants choose a tailored price and commit to attending at least twice a month. Classes begin promptly at the scheduled time; arrive 5–10 minutes early to check in. At the Santa Fe location, dancers wear socks or dance shoes (street shoes are not permitted on the floor).
