About this studio

TangoLAB teaches Argentine tango in a modernist building on Rua Joaquim Távora, a short walk from Ana Rosa metro station in Vila Mariana. The studio is the creation of Juliana Maggioli, who founded the method while studying architecture at USP. She has since taught in over 15 countries alongside established Argentine tango names, and specialises in social Argentine tango using improvisation as a form of expression. The method has taught thousands of people over 19 years.

Classes are structured as 8-week beginner courses. The studio promises that after 2 months you will be able to execute the fundamental tango steps taught in Buenos Aires. You do not need to bring a partner — the studio pairs students. The space itself is described as newly designed, elegant and high-end, with the best equipment and technology. The aesthetic draws inspiration from the notable bars of Buenos Aires, aiming to recreate the feeling of arriving home.

Beyond classes, TangoLAB organises milongas — tango dance socials. Students including Flávia and Felipe learned from zero and celebrated their wedding with tanguero friends at one of these events. The studio functions as a community of tango enthusiasts, and many students form lasting friendships through the classes.

Juliana Maggioli is the creative director and founder. The teaching approach is described as clear and structured, drawing on years of experience on Buenos Aires dance floors and Argentine tango knowledge.
