About this studio
Phoenix Salsa Dance is the #1 largest Salsa Dance Academy in the Southwest Region, located at 2530 N 7th St #107 in Phoenix. The studio is led by two directors—Lawrence Garcia and Jewel Pearl—who together bring over 35 years of combined salsa teaching experience, more than any other studio or dance academy in Arizona.
The academy offers eight distinct levels of classes, ranging from Beginner 1 & 2 through Intermediate, Inter-Advance, and Advanced. Classes include Salsa On-2, Salsa Styling with Jewel (Wednesday 7pm–8:30pm), and Intro to Intermediate Salsa (Thursday 6pm–7pm). The studio emphasises progressive learning and values fundamentals. Classes rotate partners, so you never need to bring your own. The atmosphere is social and welcoming: instructors rotate within group classes to provide individual coaching to all students.
Beyond group classes, Phoenix Salsa Dance offers private lessons with both Lawrence and Jewel, ranging from single hourly sessions to bundled packages. The studio also runs corporate and group lessons for local businesses and events, accommodates workshops and certification programmes, and teaches at schools, universities, and events both locally and internationally. Monthly events are held so students can practise and enjoy the skills they acquire in class.
The studio has trained thousands of students over the last 14 years. The best teachers and dancers in Arizona are noted as alumni. The website emphasises that foundational training and ongoing instructor development are central to their approach—the founders train in the studio daily alongside teaching. Payment is accepted via credit card, cash, or Zelle, and the studio has recently migrated to a Wellness Living portal and app for class booking.
