About this studio
Recoleta Tango Studio is run by Elizabeth Cordone and Matías Rivas, both dancers, choreographers and teachers of Argentine Tango. They have performed in the principal tango show venues of Buenos Aires and internationally, sharing stages with renowned orchestras and dance companies. Their teaching draws on this dual foundation: the authenticity of milonga tradition and the stagecraft of professional show tango, merging salon tango technique with theatrical expression.
The studio offers three main class tracks. Tango Salon teaches the classical steps, closed-embrace sequences, floorcraft, embrace, musicality, posture and milonga codes—what the instructors call "the favourite class of all milongueros". Tango Escenario develops staging skills, physical prowess and dynamic range, working on adagios and variations that tell stories through movement. Private lessons are available at all levels, whether you're starting from scratch, preparing for a milonga or refining technique.
The studio also runs group classes and workshops. Teaching extends beyond Buenos Aires, with workshops offered internationally—the source documents workshops in Sopot (2023) on enrosques, sacadas and ganchos, and a Tango Salon workshop in 2024.
Recoleta Tango Studio holds a 5.0 rating on Google with 118 reviews and is described as the highest-rated tango studio in Buenos Aires. It is located in the Recoleta neighbourhood and is run directly by its owners.
