Salsa Candela Xola

Salsa Candela is a dance academy with over 10 years of experience teaching salsa, bachata, and other Latin styles across Mexico City and the surrounding area. They've taught more than 20,000 people and organized over 100 social events and parties. The Xola location is at Estafetas 99, in the Postal neighborhood, Benito Juárez borough.

Their core offering is a five-week course designed to take you from complete beginner to social-event ready. You don't need to bring a partner—classes use constant partner rotations so you dance with everyone in your group from day one. Weekday classes run 90 minutes, twice a week. Weekend classes are two hours, once a week. Group sizes typically range from 20 to 40 people, though advanced groups are often smaller. The curriculum teaches more than 10 figures and the skills to lead your partner and create your own combinations.

Salsa Candela teaches all levels in parallel—beginners, intermediate, and advanced run at the same times and costs, with a quick assessment on the first day to place you correctly. If you miss a session, you can make it up at any time, at any branch, with no extra charge. There's no age limit; classes welcome everyone from young adults to seniors.

They also offer private lessons at 2,500 pesos per session (60 minutes, five sessions per package available). These can be at any of their five branches, at your home, or anywhere convenient, with flexible scheduling. Salsa Candela runs regular social events and parties—their "Noche Sensual" features salsa, timba, and bachata, and runs from 8:30 PM to 3:00 AM with a bar and dance floors. They organize workshops for corporate team-building and special events like weddings and quinceañeras, and can provide dance performances and demonstrations for events.

Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move freely and bring a bag for your belongings; comfortable shoes are fine to start with. You'll learn steps and sequences practiced individually, in groups, with and without music. Classes rotate partners constantly so you work with everyone.
