About this studio

Salsa Cape Town (SACATO) runs Salsa, Bachata and Kizomba classes across five studios in Cape Town CBD, Tygervalley, Blaauwberg, Rondebosch and Sea Point. Classes run Monday to Thursday at Cape Town, Tygervalley, Claremont and Tableview, with a full seven-day weekly schedule. Monday classes at SALT Cape Town CBD run at 7pm (Salsa), 8pm (Bachata) and 9pm (Kizomba). Tuesday at Tygervalley Studio starts at 6pm (Bachata), 7pm (Salsa) and 8pm (Kizomba). Wednesday at Blaauwberg Beach Hotel and Thursday at Mozambik Cavendish both follow the 7pm/8pm/9pm structure. Absolute beginners are welcome with no partners needed and no previous dance experience required.

The studio runs a 2 Month Beginner Salsa Bootcamp priced at R999 for full access. Private lessons are available both in-studio and at home, with rates from R650 for a single lesson up to R4950 for nine lessons. Drop-in classes are offered alongside membership options designed to mix classes and parties. You can learn at your own pace while meeting new people in an easy-to-follow format.

Weekend social events are central to the offering. Friday, Saturday and Sunday parties run every week at various Cape Town venues, kicking off with an 8pm Intro to Salsa Class (taught from absolute basics) and moving into the SBK Salsa Party from 9pm until late. Event tickets are R200 per couple or R120 per person. These evenings include a full bar, restaurant, secure parking and welcome singles, couples and groups. Mojo Salsa Sundays is a free weekly event at Mojo Market in Sea Point with an 8pm intro class followed by the SBK Salsa Party from 9pm, featuring 25+ food and drinks vendors and six bars.

The SACATO Summer Salsa Festival runs 13-15 December with an all-access pass at R799 (includes festival t-shirt). The festival offers a deep-dive into Afro-Latin dance styles with SACATO instructors and social dancefloor time. Parties run every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening at regular venues, with additional events a couple of times per month.
