About this studio
Salsa Classes NYC has been teaching Latin dance to New Yorkers for more than a decade, built on a deep love for Latin culture and the joy of bringing people together through dance. The studio teaches salsa, bachata, and Afro-Cuban movement across two main group class levels, plus private lessons for individuals, couples, and groups.
Level 1 classes are designed for absolute beginners with no partner or prior experience needed. You'll learn basic steps, timing, rhythm, and simple turns while building confidence and meeting new people on the dance floor. Level 2 focuses on partner work and social dancing, teaching lead-and-follow techniques, cross-body leads, turns, and combinations. Prior salsa basics are recommended for Level 2.
The studio's lead instructor appeared in the film In the Heights, bringing professional performance experience and real-world artistry to every class. The team includes Manny Davis (Founder & Director, Level 2 instructor), Yesica Bello (Marketing Director, Level 1 instructor), and professional dancers Brianna Rios (World Latin Dance Champion), Jorge Riascos (International Colombian Salsa Dancer), Jessica Silva, Ximena Salgado (International Peruvian Salsa Dancer), and Joanna Mancisidor (International Chilean Salsa Dancer).
Group classes meet regularly at 520 8th Ave in Midtown. All classes require a reservation at least 72 hours in advance. Private lessons are available for 1–3 people, 4–10 people, or 11–20 people, and can be customised for date nights, birthdays, team-building events, or any learning goal. The studio also offers corporate event instruction.
What to expect
Your first visit
You'll book in advance and arrive at 520 8th Ave, Midtown Manhattan. Level 1 is no-partner, no-experience friendly; Level 2 involves partner rotation and social techniques. Classes are 1 hour long and high-energy. You must keep your belongings in sight, as the studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
