About this studio
Johely Guilarte is a Venezuelan dancer and choreographer with over 20 years of experience teaching Latin and urban styles. Based in Dublin, she has worked with thousands of students across America, Africa, and Europe, teaching children, youth, adults, and elderly groups. Her competitive achievements include South American salsa champion, 1st place at Limburg salsa congress, and 1st place in the Salsa female duo open and Pro-Am categories at the Summit Championship 2024, plus 2nd place in Salsa female professional duo.
In 2017, Johely co-founded the Real Dance Studio with colleague David Salazar, focusing on teaching Afro Latin rhythms with an emphasis on the richness of Afro-Latino culture in music and movement. Though the studio closed during the pandemic, she has continued teaching classes in Dublin and growing her community.
Classes are held at Mind The Step on Strand Street Great in Dublin's North City. Johely offers group classes, private sessions, and specialised packages for weddings, first dances, hen parties, performances, and dance animations. She also runs regular events and performances, including the Queens Project series and collaborations like "Salsa, Percusión and fire".
Beyond dance, Johely is a dancer in the Disney film Disenchanted (available on Disney+ since November 2022) and a recipient of the Agility Award program from the Irish Arts Council in 2022 and 2023. In 2021, she launched JG Active Wear, a sportswear collection designed for dancers and fitness enthusiasts.
