About this studio

Salsa Kings was founded in 1998 by Elba, originally from Cuba, who recognised that Miami lacked true salsa academies despite its cultural proximity to Cuba. Today the studio operates under the leadership of Andres Fernandez, owner and director, who brings over 20 years of experience in salsa and the dance industry. The studio's mission is to deliver excellence in a fun, healing culture by helping people build relationships and exercise interpersonal connection through Latin dance, captured in the motto "Better Together".

The leadership team includes Lester Castillo, committed to helping students grow step by step; Pablo Peña, known for energy and focus on student development; and Galo Paredes, who brings creativity and passion to every class. From the moment students walk in, they experience the warmth and energy that defines the studio—new dancers build not just technique but friendships, confidence, and connections that last.

Salsa Kings offers group classes for beginners through advanced dancers, as well as private lessons for individuals, couples, and groups. The studio specialises in wedding dance lessons and choreography for quinceañeras. Group classes are live-broadcast online so students can join from home. Private lessons are available both in-person and online, with a field-tested curriculum focused on mastering timing, connection, confidence, communication, and creativity. The studio also runs workshops, VIP events, dance groups, and a yearly Salsa Cruise (MiamiSalsaCruise.com).

Salsa Kings operates six locations across South Florida: Cooper City, Cutler Bay, Doral, Homestead, Kendall, and Weston. The studio has a 5.0 Google rating based on 34 reviews. Students regularly praise the instructors' warmth, the inclusive environment that welcomes all skill levels, and the therapeutic benefits of dancing. One student noted: "I was able to get back into my salsa flow during warm-ups and working in couples helped me feel so comfortable in dancing with all kinds of levels." Another described their first lesson at Kendall as "a life changing experience."

What to expect

Your first visit

You'll arrive to music already playing. The instructor greets you personally and welcomes first-timers with warm applause. Class starts on time with a clear explanation of what's coming. The first rhythm cue is simple—walk, pause, repeat—before any counts or technical vocabulary. Mistakes are treated as normal; the room prioritises fun and connection over flawlessness. Partner changes happen regularly, and the instructor names the purpose upfront: this is your time for joy.
