About this studio
Salsa Rocks Leeds runs weekly salsa classes and a social dancing night every Wednesday at Kerala Restaurant in the city centre. Classes run from 20:00 to midnight, split into three ability levels. The 20:00–20:55 slot offers Beginners (Intro and Basics), Improvers (Technique), and Intermediate (Technique). From 21:00–21:55 you can join Beginners+ (Moves and Tips), Improvers (Turn Patterns), or Intermediate (Syllabus). After that, from 22:00 to midnight, the lights come down and the music turns up for social dancing with DJ Mark.
The teaching team brings collectively over 60 years of experience. Andy and Natasha teach Levels 1–2 (Beginners); Rahul and Alex teach Levels 3–4 (Improvers); Mark and Marie teach Levels 5–6 (Intermediate). All classes are drop-in with no pre-booking required, and you don't need to bring a partner — the instructors rotate partners during class so you'll dance with everyone.
Classes cost £7 for one class, £12 for two classes, or £3 for social dancing only (or free if you take a class). Student discounts are available. Payment is on arrival, and correct change is appreciated. There is no dress code; just wear something comfortable and avoid platforms and high heels.
Parking is readily available at the John Lewis Multi-storey car park, which costs £6 for the whole evening as of 2026. Many people come on their own, and the atmosphere is described by attendees as friendly and inviting. After classes, you can hang out with friends, soak up the atmosphere, and practise what you've learned on the dancefloor.
