About this studio
Salsa Sydney Academy is a social dance community in Gladesville teaching salsa to all levels. The instructor is a street dancer who began self-taught, choreographing solo performances throughout childhood and teen years at talent shows and dance competitions. After exploring Ballet, Ballroom, Jazz and Street Latin, they discovered salsa and trained with international artists and salsa schools in Europe and Australia. In 2019, they won the 'Amateur World Salsa Solo' title at the World Salsa Solo Competition. Beyond dance, the instructor has a background in health, sport and fitness, having coached for over a decade with a Certificate 3/4 in Fitness, and worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor for 7 years.
Classes run on Tuesday at 6:40pm (Salsa Beginner) and Thursday at 7:40pm (Salsa Level 1). Beginner classes introduce amateur dancers to both solo and partnered salsa dancing in a fun and interactive setting. Level 1 classes build on that foundation. The studio offers three formats: group classes, workshops, and private coaching. Workshops focus on fundamental elements including body movement, spin technique, solo footwork, and musical interpretation.
You can join anytime with no prerequisites. The open class structure means no waiting period to start. You do not need a partner—students rotate partners every few minutes so you dance with everyone. Payments are cash only, accepted at the door. Single classes are $28; a 10-class pass is $230 (valid for 4 months); a 10-week unlimited membership is $390.
The studio is at 33–37 College St, Gladesville. Free street parking and a car park are available. Public transport options include bus routes 501 or any bus on route to the Ryde Aquatic Centre on Victoria Road. Wear closed shoes (suede-soled shoes are preferred) and any clothes you can move comfortably in—workout gear, smart-casual, or dance wear.
