About this studio
Salsamars is a Latin dance school in Marseille's 8th arrondissement, run by Alexandra and Yannick. The pair bring over 20 years of experience as dancers, teachers, trainers and event organisers—they founded and ran the Massilia Salsa Congress for 10 years and helped shape the global salsa community. They're returning to teaching with the same ethos: warm, family-focused atmosphere centred on sharing passion for Latin dance.
The school teaches salsa cubana, salsa portoricana, bachata dominicana and zumba at all levels. Most regular classes run from beginner through intermediate 3. The schedule spans multiple venues: SET SQUASH on Avenue de Mazargues (the main address), Maison des Sports Bonnefon, SCC Les Dauphins, and Centre SEMENOVA-KENNEDY. Salsa cubana classes meet on Tuesday evenings (beginners at 19h30–20h30) and Thursday evenings (three intermediate levels: 19h30–20h30, 20h30–21h30, 21h30–22h30). Salsa portoricana runs Monday and Tuesday evenings at SET SQUASH, with a separate Mambo On1 class starting in January 2026. Bachata dominicana is offered Monday and Tuesday at beginner and intermediate levels. Zumba for adults and teenagers meets at three locations with daytime and evening slots.
Once monthly "training" sessions run Wednesday evenings (20h00–22h00) at SET SQUASH, combining group instruction for all levels (20h00–20h45) followed by supervised practice (20h45–22h00). The school also covers ChaCha, Rumba, Merengue and kudur in occasional workshops and introductory slots during salsa evenings.
Free trial classes are available year-round at any class of your choice. The school runs annual open-door events (portes ouvertes) and a year-end gala evening. Stages are offered beyond the regular timetable.
