About this studio
Salsatown opened in 2023, founded by Roger Gonzalez and Jesús. The studio grew from a friendship that began in 2018 when Jesús, who had never danced before, joined Roger's beginner salsa classes. What started as a student-teacher relationship evolved into a shared passion for dance as a source of freedom, happiness, and connection. That journey inspired them to create a studio where people could come together and feel part of a welcoming community.
You can learn two distinct salsa styles here. Cuban Salsa, also known as Casino, is an energetic and playful style that blends Afro-Cuban influences with circular movements and partner exchanges. Salsa LA is a linear salsa style emphasizing sharp, precise footwork and dynamic spins, known for its performance-oriented nature and dramatic flair.
Classes are structured around all levels, with a strong emphasis on beginner-friendliness. You don't need a partner to join — the studio rotates partners during class so everyone gets to dance. A free week pass lets you explore the classes and community with no commitment.
The teaching team includes Cristina Fernandez, Roger Gonzalez, Isabella Rose, and Madeline Valdes. Reviews consistently highlight the energy and patience of instructors, with students noting how choreography is designed to make participants feel like an important part of the group. One student praised the chance to participate with the Cuban Salsa performance team, describing it as "something really special and exciting."
Membership options range from drop-in class passes (from $23–28 per class) to unlimited 3-month memberships. Private lessons are available for one person ($120/hour) or two people ($150/hour). The studio also offers memberships with flexible weekly or monthly payment options, all with the ability to pause under certain circumstances.
