About this studio

Salsaville Dance Studios has been teaching salsa in Boulder, Colorado since 1999. The studio is directed by Eric 'El Cubanito' Freeman, described as Colorado's world-renowned salsa dance instructor. Classes run at all five levels: Level 1 (Intro), Level 2 (Advanced-Beginner), Level 3 (Intro to Intermediate), Level 4 (Intermediate), and Level 5 (Advanced-Intermediate). New classes start at the beginning of each month, with the studio typically running four to six courses monthly. This structure means you can progress through levels without waiting long to advance.

The studio teaches all the major styles of salsa: New York style, Los Angeles style, Cuban style, Latin American/Cumbia style, and Colombian style salsa. You need no previous dance experience to join. All that's required are regular comfortable street clothes, non-stick shoes, and a willingness to learn, have fun, and meet new people. Thousands of students have learned salsa here since the studio's founding and many have gone on to make dancing a major part of their lives.

Beyond group classes, Salsaville offers private dance instruction. Private lessons cost $85 per hour for one person or one couple, with package rates available: 3 lessons at $80/hour ($240 total), 5 lessons at $75/hour ($375 total), or 10 lessons at $70/hour ($700 total). For women taking private lessons, the instructor typically dances with you throughout and provides constant feedback. For men, three options are available: dance with the instructor for direct feedback on leading skills, bring your own partner, or use one of the paid assistant partners (with a $10–15/hour surcharge) to focus exclusively on your dancing.

The studio also hosts monthly or bi-monthly dance socials and dance parties at various venues, with admission at $5 per person (free for currently registered students). Beyond the local programme, Salsaville runs educational travel experiences: Cuba Music & Dance Educational Trips and Colombia Music & Dance, Cultural & Nature Trips, both led by Eric 'El Cubanito' Freeman as your full-time guide. The studio also produces instructional DVD videos including 'Salsa from the Start' series for beginners and advanced releases, and maintains a YouTube channel.
