About this studio
Los Reyes del Mambo is a dance school in Sevilla run by Rodrigo Torres and Beatriz Robaina, both professional dancers, teachers and choreographers. The school teaches salsa and bachata using what they call their Metodología Liberadora—a learning approach designed around understanding movement rather than memorising steps.
Rodrigo brings more than 20 years of teaching experience. His core insight: "8 of every 10 people who try to learn by memorising steps do not end up feeling they dance freely and enjoy it to the maximum." The methodology has four pillars. First, you learn and understand each movement so you grasp the fundamentals. Second, you stop memorising figures and instead create your own sequences, building the confidence to dance freely and authentically. Third, you learn to identify when you're dancing well and when you need to adjust, mastering the technical details. Fourth, you connect deeply with the music and learn to flow, moving with total freedom.
The school offers group classes in salsa and bachata, private one-to-one lessons, specialised preparation for couples getting married, intensive courses, team-building experiences, and regular social dancing events. They also sell gift packages and branded merchandise. Classes are held at Sala 17 in the Edificio Viapol on Calle Balbino Marrón in central Sevilla.
Student testimonials highlight the effectiveness of the teaching. Adrián says the methodology helps him understand what he learns rather than just memorising, and he no longer blanks out during social dancing. Alejandro praises the "Tips Ninja" for connecting with your dance partner and the way Rodrigo builds confidence. Fátima appreciates how the teaching makes her feel free to create and express her own style. Lola, dancing as a follower, says she has moved from being passive to actively participating, and now dances with confidence and style. Michael, visiting from elsewhere, noted he understood aspects of dance that had never been explained before.
The school has a 4.8 rating on Google from 86 reviews.
