About this studio

Sheffield Eurosession is a community group celebrating music and dance from across Europe, based in Sheffield, UK. Its regular events pair a beginner-friendly dance (or music) workshop with an open "Eurosession" in which attendees can contribute dance tunes, request favourite dances, play instruments, or simply relax and socialise.

The repertoire draws on European folk traditions — mazurkas, bourrées and more — and the group also hosts occasional bal events with visiting artists (for example Naragonia). Events are typically held at Shakespeare's Pub (S3 8UB), with workshops led by experienced Eurosession dancers and musicians.

What to expect

Your first visit

Newcomers are welcome — workshops include an intro for beginners, and there is no need to bring a partner. Evenings open with a workshop (8pm–9pm) followed by the session (9pm–11pm), where you can dance, request tunes, play an instrument, or chat over a drink. A donation of around £5 for the workshop and/or session is suggested (cash or PayPal accepted).

Instructors

Who teaches here

Workshops are led by Eurosession regulars — dance facilitators such as Susannah Diamond and David Beasley, and musicians such as Dan Hammond and Anne Wyatt — on a rotating basis.
