About this studio
St. Louis Ballroom Dancers has been running for more than 20 years as the original St. Louis-based ballroom dance club. Founded in the summer of 1986, the club was created by a small group of dancers with a mission to benefit all facets of ballroom dance: studios, ballrooms, social dance clubs, and dancers themselves. Their core commitment has remained unchanged: offer the highest quality dance instruction at the lowest possible cost, combined with regular social dances and access to facilities across the area.
Classes are held in Creve Coeur at the Creve Coeur Government Center, 300 N. New Ballas Road. The club offers instruction in American and International Smooth and Latin styles at three levels: Novice (beginning social dance), Silver (intermediate), and Gold (advanced). Classes run throughout the year in sessions, with Session 7 of fiscal year 2026 beginning in July 2026. Registration is required at least a week before classes begin.
Diana Roberts, one of the most acclaimed ballroom instructors in the country, teaches seven weekly group classes for the club. Roberts has won more than 20 Professional Dance Titles, including being a two-time consecutive winner of the "Sammy" award, given to the Top Female Pro/Am teacher in North America at the Ohio Star Ball. Her teaching covers all levels from beginning social dance through Gold and Open. She teaches at the club three nights a week.
Beyond classes, the club conducts monthly dance events that give members the opportunity to put into practice new steps learned in class and to enjoy watching other dancers. These dances are held in Bel-Ridge at Jost Chemical Company, 8195 Lackland Road. The club also organises group visits to ballrooms around the area to introduce members to various facilities and bands, publishes a regular newsletter with information on dances and instruction, and holds workshops and seminars with world-class dancers and instructors.
The club is run by a volunteer board and maintains a code of conduct and partner policies to support a welcoming community. Membership options and a print class form are available through the website.
