About this studio
Step by Step has dedicated itself to swing dance for 30 years. The school teaches Lindy Hop, SoloJazz, and Balboa as specialised swing courses, alongside ballroom styles including Waltz and Bolero. The broader dance programme also covers Rockabilly, BossaNova, NightClub2Step (for Soul and Funk music), Salsa, and Hustle.
Currently based at Königsworther Str. 2 in Hannover city centre (in the house of café extrablatt, directly at Königsworther Platz), the studio operates as a tenant space until summer 2026. After that date, it will relocate to the newly built Revue Palast Hannover in LeinhausenPark, between the Herrenhäuser Gärten and Stöckener Friedhof, with easy access via Stadtbahn lines 4 and 5 and S-Bahn lines 1 and 2 to Bahnhof Leinhausen.
Beyond regular dance classes, Step by Step runs dance parties and workshops. The school also operates the Revue Palast Hannover, a performance venue in a newly renovated historic building that once served as an imperial railway workshop. From 2027, the Revue Palast will host a full schedule of its own events. In the meantime, the venue already presents swing-dance concerts (a tradition that includes collaborations with the late jazz violinist Hajo Hoffmann), cabaret performances, and comedy shows. Recent and upcoming events include performances by international swing dancers Clàudia Fonte and Maria Mallan from France and Spain, the KKS BigBand (ranked third-best youth jazz orchestra in Germany as of June 2025), and local cabaret artists including Matthias Brodowy.
The philosophy emphasizes creating a place where people genuinely want to be, where they can arrive and feel at home. The owner and team pride themselves on love of dance and hospitality as their core motivation.
