About this studio
Studio J Dance Collective is based in Sparks, Nevada, and focuses on providing a safe, diverse, inclusive and supportive environment where dancers of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels can learn. The studio's mission centers on creating and telling stories through the art of dance built upon a foundation of technical precision and emotional connection.
The studio's teaching philosophy emphasizes that every child has the right to learn performance art, whether dance, vocal or theater. Teachers at Studio J prioritize creating a safe place where students can express themselves joyously and learn from mistakes while discovering their own creativity and setting boundaries for themselves. The approach values earning respect rather than expecting it based on position.
Studio J runs a competition team and holds regular shows and events. Recent performances have included ballet productions such as Into the Woods and Alice in Wonderland at Damonte Ranch High School Theater in Reno. Past shows have featured pieces titled Aurora & Maleficent, Little Red & The Big Bad Wolf, Mimes, Daisies, and Jesters. The studio also hosts community initiatives, including school supply drives in partnership with The Miss Nevada Scholarship Organization and Nevada's Silver State Stars, as well as fundraiser events like the Dunk Your Dance Teacher event benefiting the JSD Boosters.
