About this studio
Tango Argentino Amsterdam – Arjan & Marianne teaches Argentine tango as danced in the salons of Buenos Aires: in an embrace, with attention to posture, technique and the communication between partners. The school has run lessons since 1994, drawing on the founders' experience from frequent stays in Buenos Aires beginning in 1991 and their work with local maestros there. The approach emphasises the pure tradition of tango and respect for its culture.
Lessons run Monday to Friday at Grand Café Frankendael, Middenweg 116. The venue has a sprung dance floor and good acoustics. Arjan and Marianne also host two regular salons: a Friday salon at the Kristalzaal in Frankendael, and a Sunday salon at Jungle Amsterdam (2e van Swindenstraat 26). Both are known for their relaxed atmosphere and careful music selection by DJ Arjan 'el Irresistible' and guest DJs.
The school offers free trial lessons and a full schedule from September to November 2026. They also run workshops. A unique resource is their Milonga App, available free for iPhone and Android, with three levels and 36 lessons to help you practise anywhere, anytime.
An introduction film for trial lessons is available on the website. The school hosts performances by Arjan and Marianne, and runs regular tango events including Tango in het Oosterpark. Beyond dance, they offer educational content on tango history and culture, including lectures and video resources.
