About this studio
Tango Renaissance opened in January 2025 in the heart of Plateau-Mont-Royal, founded by Burak Ozkosem and Sabire Sırma Saltık. The studio teaches Argentine tango at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, with classes led by internationally trained instructors. Group classes run 90 minutes and combine expert instruction, practice time, and community connection.
The studio welcomes solo dancers and couples alike—you don't need a partner to start. A rotation system ensures everyone dances with multiple partners during class. Classes are taught in French and English depending on the instructor and group needs. Beginners can start with the Beginner Tango Bootcamp, which requires no prior experience. The studio also offers private lessons, practicas (guided practice sessions), and workshops with visiting international artists.
Beyond classes, Tango Renaissance functions as a full event venue. The studio hosts weekly and monthly tango socials, milongas (social dance nights), and special cultural events. In July 2026, the studio will host Mariano "Chicho" Frúmboli and Juana Sepúlveda for advanced tango labs—their only North American stop that year and the first time in Canada. The three beautifully designed studio spaces are available for private rental, equipped with high-quality sound systems, mirrors, and elegant lighting, suitable for dance classes, workshops, rehearsals, art exhibits, and corporate events.
The studio is located on Boulevard Saint-Laurent in Plateau-Mont-Royal and is easily accessible from across Montreal. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The mission is to revive tango culture in Montreal, building a supportive, international community of dancers and collaborating with local and international artists, musicians, and teachers.
What to expect
Your first visit
Arrive 10–15 minutes early with comfortable shoes (or socks for your first class). Classes are 90 minutes of instruction, practice, and connection with other dancers. You'll rotate partners to learn with multiple people. If you're unsure which level fits you, call the studio and staff will help you find the right class. A free trial class is available.
