About this studio
Tango Times Dance Company was created in 2002 by Oscar Caballero and Roxana Garber, who have been dancing together since 2000. Both arrived in Miami with extensive artistic backgrounds from Argentina. The studio offers group lessons and private lessons in tango and Argentine dances, taught by the founders themselves.
Oscar Caballero is a professional tango dancer trained at the Universidad del Tango de Buenos Aires and studied under Rodolfo Dinzel. He is also an Argentinean folk and tango historian. He has performed and taught at several US universities including Augustana College, Ambrose, Knox College, and Western Illinois. In 1991 Augustana College honoured him for international university culture and education. He has received awards for tango representation at the Catedral del Tango (1996) and tango diffusion (1996), and worked in Argentinean television broadcasting tango classes alongside well-known artists.
Roxana Garber was born in Buenos Aires and began dancing at nine years old. She studied at the Escuela Nacional de Danzas Nº 2 in Buenos Aires and performed at the Teatro Municipal Gral. San Martin. She worked as teacher and choreographer for the Chubut Tango and Chubut Danza ballet companies, teaching both tango and contemporary dance. She has also studied piano and music composition with Mirta Irusta and Antonio De Raco, integrating music and poetry into her tango work.
The studio runs milongas and social tango events on an every-other-Saturday schedule featuring concerts and milonguita dancing. Beyond the studio, the company performs two theatrical tango shows per year in Miami, including the acclaimed production "the Streets of Buenos Aires", bringing together performers from the local and international artistic sphere.
