About this studio
The Governor's School for the Arts is a tuition-free arts high school serving public high school students across the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. The school offers conservatory-style training in six disciplines, including a dedicated Dance department alongside Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, Theatre & Film, Visual Arts, and Vocal Music.
Students in the Dance program participate in professional-level performances and exhibitions throughout the year. GSA holds over 50 performances and exhibitions annually in professional venues, giving dancers real experience on stages beyond the classroom. The school serves eight school divisions across Hampton Roads, drawing talented young dancers from a wide area.
Admission is by audition. The school is located at 254 Granby Street in Norfolk and is open Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Audition applications open periodically for entry into the following school year. As a public school program, GSA combines arts training with standard high school enrollment, allowing students to pursue dance at a professional level while completing their general education.
