About this studio

Trio Spin Studio has taught Argentine tango for 23 years, since 2002. The studio is located in Room 504-505 on the 5th floor of Enterprise Building at 228-238 Queen's Road Central in Sheung Wan, a short walk from Sheung Wan MTR Station Exit A2.

The studio offers Argentine tango comprehensive courses twice weekly: Tuesdays at 8:00–9:00 pm and Saturdays at 3:00–4:00 pm. No dance experience is required to start. You're welcome to join with a partner, but having one is not a requirement. Classes are taught in Cantonese and/or English. The flexible package costs HKD2200 for 10 lessons taken over 3 months, the most popular option for students who cannot attend every week. Enrolled students receive a free membership during the course period, which gives access to discounted prices or free entry to the studio's milongas (tango parties) and other VIP activities.

The instructors are Miss Candy Sze and Anita Sze. They have taught the Master Class for the Hong Kong Dance Festival 2006, serving dance students at the Hong Kong Performance Art Academy (HKAPA) and overseas dance universities. They were guest performers in the finale party of the Hong Kong Latin American Festival and have been tango instructors and performers in the Tango Argentino Series at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. They are also organisers and artistic directors of 'Tango Puro in HK' and 'Tango Temptation', and served as Argentine tango consultants for the RTHK show 'Solo Tango'.

The studio is approximately 700 sq.ft and features a wooden dance floor with mirrors, dimmable lighting suitable for classes and parties, professional sound systems, air conditioning, toilets and changing areas, a piano and music stands, tables, foldable chairs, and a self-service drinks store corner. A projector and moveable screen are available as add-ons for rental.

Beyond tango classes, the studio rents space to dance teachers, yoga instructors, rehearsal groups, and organisers of private parties, fashion markets, music and drama classes, seminars and press conferences. Non-peak hour rental is HKD350 per hour (all hours except peak hours); peak hour rental is HKD400 per hour. Peak hours are Monday to Friday 12–2 pm and 6 pm–2 am, and all hours on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.

What to expect

Your first visit

You'll take a 60-minute tango class in a 700 sq.ft studio with mirrors and a wooden floor. Classes run Tuesday evenings at 8 pm or Saturday afternoons at 3 pm. Beginners are welcome with or without a partner. Teaching is in Cantonese and/or English.
