Tropik Vybe Dance Company was founded by De'Jon Polanski in New Orleans in November 2016 and relocated to Dallas in July 2022. The studio is now based in Richardson at 2701 Custer Parkway, Suite 911.
The company holds a rare distinction by focusing on world-class training in Salsa On 2, an Afro-Latin social dance. Within a disciplined environment, Tropik Vybe is committed to educating what they call "beast-level social dancers comfortable in the art of improvisation." The comprehensive curriculum includes history, culture, musical and stylistic sub-genres, solo footwork, lead-and-follow relationship, social dance etiquette, energy management, body movement, styling, spin technique, and other elements that comprise this rich dance.
Regular classes follow a progressive program structure with all levels welcome and no partner required. The studio runs open enrollment sessions where you can meet coaches, receive a level evaluation if you wish, meet other students, and receive your Tropik uniform.
Beyond classes, Tropik Vybe hosts frequent social events. LA VIBRA is a recurring themed salsa social (with sub-genres including Silk & Satin, Rep Your Team, Marvel vs DC Comics, and Silver or Gold themes) that runs from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM, featuring a beginner salsa lesson at 9:00 PM before social dancing. Dallas Bachata Social events focus on bachata with a sprinkle of salsa, beginning with a beginner bachata class at 9:00 PM. MAMBO PA TI events are 100% salsa socials from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM with guest DJs, including DJ Mario from New York. All socials offer tables for reservation and are BYOB.
Members gain access to a POV online lesson video library, discount codes to festivals and congresses, organised curated music playlists, an organised calendar of events, a global WhatsApp group chat, and the ability to cancel at any time.
