About this studio
Ultimate Tango is a school dedicated exclusively to Argentine Tango, based in Malden, MA in the Greater Boston area, drawing students from across all five New England states (MA, NH, RI, CT, ME) as well as a global online audience. The school frames tango not merely as a dance but as a philosophy of life built on leadership, cooperation, strategy, spatial awareness, and continuous-feedback partnership.
Its signature Ultimate Tango Method emphasizes teaching sensations rather than memorized steps, revealing the underlying structure of the dance so students can improvise and adapt with any partner, anywhere, to any music. Offerings span in-person group classes and leveled courses, private lessons, and an extensive on-demand virtual catalog (Tango Passport).
What to expect
Your first visit
Classes are designed for adults at all levels, from a conversational beginner course through pre-intermediate, intermediate, pre-advanced, and advanced. The studio takes a hands-on, involved approach focused on understanding every aspect of the dance rather than rote repetition, helping students build improvisation skill, physical and emotional wellbeing, and lasting relationships. Note: the studio does not offer children's classes.
Studio history
Ultimate Tango was born from the founders' desire to share the 'Tango way' of achieving things — dance leadership rooted in a deep understanding of where the couple is going together, not just where the leader is going, with following based on continuous feedback.
