About this studio
Urban Kiz's Cool teaches Kizomba and Urban Kizomba in Strasbourg. Kizomba, also called the African tango, is a sensual, fluid couple dance born in Angola. It emphasises deep connection between partners, with circular movement patterns similar to Cuban salsa. Urban Kizomba is the modern evolution—influenced by Ghetto Zouk, Hip-hop and electronic music—offering more technique, freedom, style play and musical interpretation, with linear movement like Puerto Rican salsa.
The studio runs beginner classes every Thursday at 19:30 in Strasbourg Koenigshoffen from 17 September to 30 June, and intermediate/advanced classes at 20:30 in Kehl (La cita salle de danse, Kinzigstraße 35, 77694 Kehl) on the same nights. Both locations offer free parking and tram access. One-to-one private lessons are available Monday to Friday and weekends during festivals, tailored to your pace whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced dancer.
JN DBI leads the studio. He is a self-taught, passionate and creative instructor with a background in gymnastics and sports preparation. He created the System Kiz technique and travels internationally to teach. His teaching blends technique, musicality and dance history with patience and pedagogy in a welcoming atmosphere.
Students report thorough, complete coaching covering technique and the cultural codes of the dance alongside musicality.
