Luca Baricchi is an Italian ballroom champion, teacher, and movement analyst who shaped how international Standard dancers understand musicality and performance. Born in 1969 in Reggio Emilia, Italy, Baricchi developed within Italy's ballroom tradition before forming his defining partnership with Irish dancer Loraine Barry in 1993. Competing for England, the pair achieved sustained success in professional Standard: they won the United Kingdom Professional Ballroom championship in 1999 and 2000, claimed the British Professional Ballroom title in 1999, 2000, and 2001, and are identified in specialist teaching profiles as World Professional Ballroom champions in 1999 and 2001. After their competitive peak in 2001, Baricchi transitioned to teaching and analysis. The WDSF DanceSport Academy presented his 2013 lecture "Musicality and Identity" at the Stuttgart Adjudicators' Congress and his 2014 lecture on assessing "Movement to Music," a core judging criterion. In 2014, WDSF appointed him as the Academy's Standard Dance consultant and issued him a general-adjudicator licence covering Standard, Latin, Ten Dance, and Professional Division categories.
