Biography
Natalia Urban is a Russian ten-dance and Standard champion who competed at elite amateur and professional levels with partner Stanislav Bekmametov, then transitioned to an international adjudication career. Urban trained in Moscow at the Aleko dance school under Irina Rodionova, Valeriy Gulay and Galina Gulay. She and Bekmametov began their WDSF-recorded partnership on 17 September 1999, representing the Russian Federation. Their competitive record spans an unusual range: rather than specializing in a single division, they entered Standard, Latin and Ten Dance events. Between 1999 and 2001 they accumulated results across Eastern Europe and international opens, winning WDSF-listed Standard events in Russia and Bulgaria, the 2000 East European Ten Dance Championship in Moscow, and placing first in an International Open Ten Dance event in Moscow in April 2001.
After leaving the amateur federation system, Urban and Bekmametov continued as professional competitors. They won the 2004 International Championships Professional Rising Star Standard title, secured professional victories in Standard and Latin, claimed the 2007 IPDSC World Professional Ten Dance title in Reghin, Romania, and earned 2008 world and bronze medals in Professional Show Dance and Standard. The couple retired from competitive performance after 2008.
Urban and Bekmametov founded and led Magnolia Dance Studio in Moscow, where Urban worked as an instructor, lecturer and choreographer. She maintained the ten-dance perspective of her competitive career, connecting Standard and Latin technique rather than treating them as separate disciplines. The WDSF issued Urban a general adjudicator license on 13 February 2013. Her active record covers Standard, Latin, Ten Dance, Formation, Show Dance and Professional Division disciplines, with Advanced Judging System qualification. In 2026 alone she adjudicated competitions across Europe and Asia, including the European Adult Latin Championship in Aarhus and events in Manila, Johor Bahru, Tashkent, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei.

Urban's career demonstrates the technical range required to excel in ten-dance competition, where dancers must master two distinct movement systems—the sustained partnership frame and progressive travel of Standard, and the individual timing and grounded action of Latin.
