Roberto Albanese

Roberto Albanese is a Latin dancer, formation coach, choreographer, and international adjudicator whose work has shaped competitive ballroom dance across multiple roles and levels. Beginning as an amateur and professional Latin competitor, Albanese partnered with Uta Deharde from October 1996 to April 2000, achieving multiple North German Latin championships, a number-one German ranking, and later German runner-up honors in Freestyle Latin and repeated Professional Latin finals.

Albanese became most influential as head coach of Grün-Gold-Club Bremen's formation Latin team. By 2013, the Deutsche Tanzsport-Verband credited the team under his direction with four world titles, three European championships, and eight German titles. That same year, he served as coach and choreographer of the German Latin formation at the World DanceSport Games. Beyond choreography, his responsibilities encompassed formation design, music development, and youth program building—the composite authorship required by formation dance.

The German DanceSport Federation recognized his broader contributions with an appointment as association and national trainer in 2013 and youth national Latin coach in February 2017, positions he resigned from in May 2018. Alongside coaching, Albanese developed an extensive adjudication career. The World DanceSport Federation lists him as an active General Adjudicator with disciplines spanning Standard, Latin, Ten Dance, formation Standard and Latin, show dance, and Professional Division categories. His official license was issued on 16 October 2014, with education validity through October 2028.

Bremen's formation Latin program continued its ascent under Albanese's leadership. On 14 December 2025, the German DanceSport Federation reported the club's fifteenth World Championship formation Latin title. Later that month, the federation announced that Albanese would end his head-coach role, with discussions ongoing regarding any future involvement with the club.
