We partner with Central Ohio Hot Jazz Society each month to host a free dance lesson to teach you some steps you can use all night.

Before the bandstand gets into action, a SwingColumbus instructor will teach more "hot dance" Charleston/solo jazz moves to help folks enjoy dancing to the fast tempos of many trad jazz tunes. Dance Lesson starts at 8:30, followed by the Jam. Always plenty of people there happy to share and help with steps, songs, and techniques.

This is a little bit different vibe than our usual dances since this is a jam for the musicians. The songs may last for 20 mins or more-- so feel free to start a dance in the middle of the song, or only dance a portion of it. Feel free to practice some solo jazz, or dance with a partner. This is a great space to connect with fellow dancers and practice and socialize, all with an informal vibe. If you play and instrument, or sing please feel free to join them on the stage--we have several of our SwingColumbus members performing as musicians as well. Come explore the traditional jazz of the early 1900's.

*This is a free event--but we do ask that if you can donate, even a few bucks-- it goes a long way to keeping the event going. We'll pass the Tip Jar around ... please bring a $5 bill to help with expenses. If most of the "usual crowd" is willing to put in $5, that goes a long way to keeping this stable + sustainable.

Thanks so much for helping out! And thanks to the Greater Columbus Arts Council and The Columbus Foundation for their assistance in making these events happen!
💃🎵💃🎵💃🎵💃

For more information about SwingColumbus- check us out at swingcolumbus.org
