About this studio
A Bailar Tango is a Montpellier-based association dedicated to Argentine tango since 2011. Since 2019, the organisation has offered regular courses with international maestros Carlitos Espinoza and Agustina Piaggio, who won the world championship in 2019. The association balances three pillars of tango: classes, social dancing (milongas), and cultural activities including concerts, DJ sets, demonstrations, and conferences.
El Salón de Tango, the venue, is a 300 m² air-conditioned space with sprung wooden flooring, a concert piano, a stage, a bar, changing rooms, and professional sound and lighting. Parking is easy and free. The space hosts La Pituca, the regular monthly milonga (now moving to the fourth Saturday of each month from the 2025–26 season); Les Intanguptibles, a biannual event cycle in autumn and spring; and GRISETA de Montpellier, a major festival held each March.
Beyond the salon, A Bailar Tango runs La Milonga du Musée, held summer Wednesdays (23 July to 17 September, 9 p.m. to midnight) on the Parvis du Musée Fabre, with an initiation session from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The organisation has also hosted La Milonga du Gazette Café since 2015, and participates in wider cultural events including the Internationales de la Guitare and La Milonga du Hall A3 at the Foire Internationale de Montpellier.
Regular course instructors include Carlitos Espinoza and Agustina Piaggio (2023–24 season). The association runs several annual festivals: GRISETA de Montpellier #13 takes place 6–8 March 2026; Les Intanguptibles #13 features Clarisa Aragon and Jonathan Saavedra, 31 October–2 November 2025. Le Bal des Aviateurs (el Baile de los Aviadores) runs through the summer.
Milonga entry is tiered: under 30 free; 30–40 years €5; students €5; students and job-seekers €7; general admission €10 (includes savoury and sweet snacks, fruit, and syrups). Membership for the 2025–26 season is included. First-time visitors to milongas will find a welcoming space with DJ sets, dance floors, and light refreshments.
What to expect
Your first visit
You'll enter a spacious, air-conditioned hall with a wooden sprung floor and professional lighting. Milongas typically run 9 p.m. to midnight, with initiation sessions beforehand. Light refreshments are provided. Most events feature live or recorded tango music and a mix of experienced and newer dancers.
