About this studio
Academy Bellydance (Sandra Danse) is an oriental dance academy at 4 Rue Masséna in central Nice, on the pedestrian street. The academy has been a member of UNESCO's International Dance Council (CID) since 2011, giving it formal recognition within the international dance community.
The teaching is built around the Méthode Sandra, a structured approach created by Sandra, an international professor-choreographer. Rather than simply naming steps and techniques, the method uses a codification system organised into five repertoires that teaches students to combine movements, steps and their variations progressively. This structure is designed to move students from learning toward improvisation, with a particular focus on understanding oriental music at the heart of the method. The teaching specifically approaches Egyptian oriental dance in its art and purity.
Classes are offered at five different levels for collective group work. Beyond regular classes, the academy runs private and semi-private lessons, stages (workshops), voyages (dance trips), spectacles (performances) and festivals. The academy also offers professional-level training across three levels leading to a certificat d'aptitude (diploma) to become an oriental dance teacher. Students can enroll in courses year-round without interruption.
