Albasario Dance Company opened in 2017 on the second floor of 1637 Germantown Ave in Philadelphia, founded by Eddie Alba. The studio teaches NY Style Salsa On2, Cha-cha, Body Movement, and Social Dancing. Eddie Alba is a first-generation Dominican raised in New York City who trained formally with Yamulee Dance Company in the Bronx starting in 2008, where he progressed from joining the semi-professional Bajari de Yamulee team to becoming a member of their professional ensemble. He later expanded his expertise at Balmir Latin Dance Company in Brooklyn, where he studied Bachata, Kizomba, and Hustle, competed globally, and won multiple medals and trophies. He now works as an instructor, performer, choreographer, and DJ.
The studio welcomes beginners with zero dance experience and no partner required. New students get a free introductory class to learn fundamental salsa steps, understand rhythm, and get comfortable on the dance floor in a supportive environment. The first lesson is free for anyone new to salsa who isn't ready to commit to a full 4-week session. Registration is required as space is limited.
